Self-Reflection for Vision of the Future Project
This is my final post for my fourth course in earning my Certificate of Teacher-Librarianship. For my final project I created a website to highlight my vision for future TLs and myself with Personal Learning Networks (PLNs). Here is the link - Personal Learning Networks: Vision of the Future
I purposely choose to use the GoogleSites platform for my website as this is the platform my department uses for our district website. Personally, I do not find it as easy to navigate or edit compared to other website platforms. I found it very difficult to add images with text and to have the website not read from top to bottom. At one point I accidently erased a whole section when I was trying to change the lay-out. I will continue to further develop my skills in the use GoogleSites.
I have learned a lot about myself through the short span of this course. I realize that my support network does not have to be people I know but can be individuals, groups, or organizations I follow on social media platforms. I learned that there is an amazing amount of individuals who are full of creative ideas and who are willing to share their stuff/ideas for FREE! The sharing and supporting of one another is so uplifting! I cannot wait to be working in a SLLC.
I am proud of how I organized my website by drawing upon my cultural teachings as it allowed me to really notice where my own PD was not in balance. I know that I must further develop my PLNs for my emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
I had the privilege of hearing Dr. James Makokis speak. His message that being Indigenous means we are born political resonated with me. By reading through my blog, one can see my hesitancy to be a leader and to share my authentic self. My blog post, Participate, Connect, Dedication = Cyclical Growth was my most brutually honest post and it has the most views. I am learning to be couragous, embrace the teachings from my PLNs and Elders, and to accomplish positive impacts within my learning community.
