Self-Reflection for Vision of the Future Project

This is my final post for my fourth course in earning my Certificate of Teacher-Librarianship. For my final project I created a website to highlight my vision for future TLs and myself with Personal Learning Networks (PLNs). Here is the link - Personal Learning Networks: Vision of the Future I purposely choose to use the GoogleSites platform for my website as this is the platform my department uses for our district website . Personally, I do not find it as easy to navigate or edit compared to other website platforms. I found it very difficult to add images with text and to have the website not read from top to bottom. At one point I accidently erased a whole section when I was trying to change the lay-out. I will continue to further develop my skills in the use GoogleSites. I have learned a lot about myself through the short span of this course. Exploration of Libraries and the Use of Mobile Devices

Library Projects in developing nations CODE   While exploring the CODE website at first I was skeptical. My first thought was how much money actually impacts the programs. I was delighted to learn that 94% of the money goes directly to the CODE programs. My second thought negative thought was is this a repeat of colonization practices. Are we trying to "educate" those less fortunate in our western view points and values. Once again I was elated to learn that it was culturally appropriate methods employed to improve literacy within the countries. In reading the "Our Programs" I felt connected to the organization empowering women, working with the "countries' teacher development institutions" to produce highly qualified individuals to teach literacy through "high-qulaity locailly relevant reading and learning materials". Sharing is Caring

S haring is caring! As a Teacher-librarian (TL), advocacy and promotion for our program is important as is sharing our learning journey with our wider communities of practices. This can be accomplished via various methods. First, monthly reports and inviting administrators into the SLLC will allow them to be cognizant of all the amazing things that are happening there . Second, a TL could attend and present during staff meetings. This allows for teachers to hear and see new skills as well as ask questions. Third, be a member on district committees. This allows a TL to share things from their SLLC, and learn new ideas. Fourth, feature professional development posts on social media platforms such as a website, blog, Twitter account, Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok.  To respond to the needs of our staff we must make connections and get to know them. Participate, Connect, Dedication = Cyclical Growth!

  Apologies My Fellow Colleagues I apologize for the late blog post. I am a little behind but I am getting back on track. I realize deadlines are important and I do not want to undervalue their significance. But lately my heart has been very heavy therefore the words and thoughts are just not in me. The best thing I have found I can do when this happens is to slow down and listen, then write.  My Rambling Inquiry Thoughts I feel the journey of learning is never ending nor should it be. Although, at times I sometimes feel overwhelmed and bombarded with ensuring I am implementing the “best” pedagogy and the “newest” skills, working full time all while still being a mom, wife, and everything else!
